Mental Health First Aid Training: June 2025

Thursday, June 26, 2025 (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

Mental Health First Aid is a public education program that introduces participants to risk factors and warning signs of mental illnesses, builds understanding of their impact and overviews common supports. This course uses role-playing and simulations to demonstrate how to offer initial help in a mental health crisis and connect persons to the appropriate professional, peer, social and self-help care. The program also teaches the common risk factors and warning signs of specific types of illnesses, like anxiety, depression, substance use, bipolar disorder, eating disorders and schizophrenia.

Mental Health First Aid is included on the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices (NREPP).

Participants who complete the full course will secure a three-year certification. This training is eligible for one rebate credit for Dayton/Miami Valley Safety Council members and one external training credit for individuals enrolled in other safety councils.

The training will be led by Montgomery County ADAMHS.

This course is limited to 30 attendees. Registration will close on June 12th or when the course is full. Contact Sydney Ryan (sryan@dacc.org) if you would like to be added to the course waitlist.
