Leadership Dayton - Class of 2020 Tree Planting

Saturday, October 2, 2021 (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

Please join the Class of 2020’s class project, planting trees in Sinclair Park, Harrison Township. During the May 2019 Tornadoes, the Park’s trees were decimated, losing 90% of the trees in the Park. The Class of 2020 partnered with Harrison Township, Montgomery County Keep Ohio Beautiful, and the Ohio Dept. of Natural Resources to replant trees in Sinclair Park. We’ve had a number of revisions to the plan, and it certainly doesn’t look like it did in February 2020! But we are excited to put these trees back into Sinclair Park and bring a richness in the stillness of trees. We have leveraged additional funds and have increased the number of trees to be planted!

Labor: Volunteers will plant trees in pre-dug holes, carry water to the planted trees, add deer fencing to protect the trees, and generally tidy the Park.

Supplies: Volunteers may bring their own tools. Cotton gloves will be provided. Feel free to bring your own.

COVID: this is an outdoor event co-hosted by the State, County, and Township. All COVID plans are subject to change based upon then-current guidance. We plan to work in pairs/pods selected based on volunteers’ comfort levels. All food/drink will be pre-packaged or served by a masked/gloved individual. Hand sanitizer will be available. Masks are not required at this time.
