About the Speaker: Speaker Matt Huffman represents the 78th Ohio House District and was unanimously elected Speaker of the Ohio House at the start of the 136th General Assembly, following his service as Senate President. A Lima native and longtime attorney, he has practiced law for over 40 years in his family’s firm and has been a strong advocate for small businesses across West Central Ohio.

Speaker Huffman’s public service began on Lima City Council, where he served 14 years including seven as council president, before entering the Ohio Legislature. Throughout his tenure, he has championed efforts to reduce taxes, cut regulatory burdens, expand education choice, and advance fiscal responsibility. He remains deeply committed to ensuring Ohio’s policies support families, employers, and long-term economic growth.
