The Procurement Access Series: Session II April 2026

Wednesday, April 29, 2026 (8:00 AM - 12:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

The Dayton Region Minority Business Assistance Center (MBAC), in collaboration with the City of Dayton Human Relations Council (HRC), presents Session II of The Procurement Access Series.

The Procurement Access Series – Session II builds on the momentum of our first session by taking a deeper, more practical dive into how small businesses can successfully navigate the procurement landscape and compete for contract opportunities in both the public and private sectors.

Whether you are new to contracting or looking to strengthen your competitive edge, this session is designed to equip you with the knowledge, tools, and confidence needed to pursue bid opportunities strategically. Participants will gain insight into the full bidding process—from identifying opportunities and understanding requirements to positioning their business as a viable and competitive vendor.

This session features industry leaders and procurement professionals from Skanska, Shook Construction, Bladecutters, and onMain, who will provide real-world perspectives on what it takes to win contracts. Attendees will hear directly from organizations that actively engage with small businesses and will learn what decision-makers look for when evaluating bids, proposals, and vendor partnerships.

Key topics will include:

  • Understanding how to identify and evaluate contracting opportunities
  • Breaking down the components of a strong and responsive bid
  • Common pitfalls that prevent businesses from being competitive
  • How to build relationships with prime contractors and procurement teams
  • Positioning your business for long-term success in the contracting space

This session is ideal for small businesses seeking to expand their customer base, increase revenue through contract opportunities, and build stronger relationships within the procurement ecosystem. Whether your goal is to secure your first contract or scale your existing efforts, this workshop will provide actionable insights to move your business forward.

Join us as we continue to break down barriers to access and create pathways for small, minority, women, and veteran-owned businesses to compete and win.
