Join the Dayton region's largest service outing for young professionals and 'Get out & Give back'. This year's Generation Dayton's service focus is on the workforce skills gap. Why? We encourage you to read more!

The why:

As advances in technology require a higher level of skill among workers, there is growing concern that this region is at a critical crossroads in its ability to compete for jobs.

“More people are starting to realize now that this is going to be an epidemic,” said Nick Weldy, superintendent and chief executive of the Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC). “I think we are still on the edge of it where we can make a correction and get enough highly skilled technical employees out there. But it’s got to become a priority for the state.” – Dayton Daily News, September 2018

This year, Generation Dayton, the Dayton Area Chamber's Young Professionals organization will focus its volunteer efforts on bringing awareness to the region’s workforce skills gap on Generation Dayton Day, the group's biggest outreach day of the year. Generation Dayton Day gives young professional volunteers the opportunity to 'Get out and Give back' at area non-profits. After a day of giving back, participants will celebrate with an after-party which includes food, drinks, and raffle prizes for volunteers.
