Join us this month as Jason Broyles, Public Awareness & Services Coordinator at Ohio Utilities Protection Service, presents on the importance of safe digging. This message is applicable to facility owners, excavators, and homeowners. Jason will share information on the Ohio Utilities Protections Service (OHIO811) and steps you should take to ensure you are safely digging and following the Law to avoid potential injury, unexpected downtime, or utility disruption.

About the speaker: Jason has worked as a Public Awareness & Services Coordinator for the Ohio Utilities Protection Service (OHIO811) since 2017. Primarily servicing the Southwest Ohio Region, Jason works closely with contractors, excavators, contract locators to spread the message of damage prevention.  He provides safety talks to industry groups, participates in several Damage Prevention Councils and Utility Coordinating Councils and promotes cooperation amongst all stakeholders. In addition, Jason acts as the communication link between O.U.P.S. member facility companies and O.U.P.S. management.

Jason’s background includes working as a Law Enforcement Officer in the State of West Virginia for 10 years as well as belonging to a Search and Extraction team with the United States Army for 8 years.   Jason’s unit specialized in structural collapse, trench rescue, rope rescue, and vehicle/machinery recovery in a chemical environment.  Jason was with the US Army for 16 years serving in the Pennsylvania National Guard, the US Army Reserves and the US Army.  Jason also held the role of Safety Specialist for a year with a local subcontractor doing work with natural gas main and service line installation.
