This presentation gives business leaders an overview of practical emergency preparedness and continuity planning. We’ll cover how to identify your top risks, create or strengthen your Emergency Action Plan, improve employee safety and communication, and build simple continuity measures to keep operations running during disruptions.
About the Speakers:
Nedra Havens serves as the Director of the Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management, where she leads countywide planning, training, and coordination with local, state, federal, and nonprofit partners. She specializes in continuity planning, emergency operations, and helping organizations strengthen their preparedness through practical, actionable steps. Nedra has extensive experience supporting jurisdictions, businesses, and community organizations in developing emergency plans, conducting exercises, and improving overall resilience across the Miami Valley.
Ryan McElroy has proudly served with the Dayton Fire Department for 20 years, the last six as Captain. Currently, he serves as the City of Dayton's Emergency Planner, overseeing the Emergency Operations Center and related preparedness initiatives. In addition, he is a Rescue Square Officer with Ohio Task Force 1, one of 28 federal level Urban Search and Rescue teams in the nation. Over the course of his career, he has deployed to numerous natural and man-made disasters, including hurricanes, flooding events, and the Champlain Towers condominium collapse in Surfside, Florida.
