About the presentation:
Join us for our annual OSHA/Workers' Compensation Law Update presented by Gary Auman, Director, Auman, Mahan & Furry. During his presentation, Gary will share OSHA updates including a description of the new proposed standard on Heath Injury and Illness Prevention and how the standard may be affected by the recent election. Gary will also discuss the 2024 decisions from the Ohio State Appellate and Supreme Court that may affect the manner in which businesses approach Workers' Compensation matters. There will also be ample time for Q&A.
About the speaker:
As a director with Auman, Mahan & Furry, Gary Auman concentrates his practice on occupational safety and health law and workers’ compensation defense.
With 40 years of experience, Gary is a noted authority and staunch management advocate in workers’ compensation and occupational safety and health law. He regularly writes on occupational safety and health law for a number of trade publications. In addition, he is a frequent speaker on occupational safety and health topics at seminars and conferences throughout the United States. Gary represents both small and large companies and is general counsel to several national and regional trade associations. Gary is a staunch management advocate and defends employers across the United States.
Gary has been recognized by a number of associations, including the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, where he was volunteer of the year in 2004. In 2002, Gary was honored by the National Safety Council when he received its Distinguished Service to Safety Award. This is the highest individual honor that can be bestowed by the National Safety Council. Gary received the Smith-Moore Award from the United Way of Greater Dayton in 2013 to recognize his dedication and commitment to that organization. In 2013, he received the Bernon G. Perkins Award from the National Frame Building Association for his efforts to promote safety in that industry. On June 18, 2014, Gary received the William R. Heaston Outstanding Member Award from the Midwest Insulation Contractors Association for his service to the industry. This is the first time in the award’s history it was presented to a non-member. In April 2015, Gary was awarded the President’s Award by the National Insulation Association. In 2016, Gary was awarded the Gene Demeter Safety Achievement Award by Allied Construction Industries and in 2022 he was recognized by the Midwest Roofing Contractor Association for their Naphis Mitchell-Reyes Safety Professional Award.
Gary received his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from the University of Louisville. He received his law degree, graduating summa cum laude, from The Ohio State University College of Law. Gary served in the United States Air Force from 1969-1973.
