November is National Entrepreneurship Month, a time when “we celebrate the remarkable and everyday successes of our entrepreneurs and innovators, and we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring our economy remains the engine and the envy of the world.” 

Join us as John McKenzie of Winsupply moderates a panel of local entrepreneurs to share their success and challenges in owning and running a business today.  Panelists include: Katie Ward, CEO, P & R Communications Services, Inc., Al Wofford, President & CEO, CDO Technologies, and Nicholas Ripplinger, President of Battle Sight Technologies.

About the Panelists:

Al Wofford: As president and CEO, Al Wofford over sees an organization of more than 300 technology professionals. CDO is a recognized expert in the application and integration of Auto ID, Mobile, sensor and telecommunication technologies.  Headquartered in Dayton, Ohio. CDO operates in eleven states nationally. CDOs’ service markets include the Department of Defense, Health Care, Consumer Products, Manufacturing, Logistics, Education, Transportation, Federal Civilian Agencies, and State and Municipal Governments agencies among others.  Prior to founding CDO Technologies, Al was the President and COO for RCF Information Systems from 1990 – 1995. In his time with RCF, the company grew from a staff of 40 to approximately 300 employees.

Al has also been recognized with several awards for his entrepreneurial success and community involvement, including the Inc. Magazine and Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year (1995), Omega Psi Phi Business of the Year, SCOMSDC MBE of the Year (2003), Ohio Department of Development Entrepreneurial Achievement Award, SBA Regional Minority Small Business Person of the Year (2003), and the SBA Entrepreneurial Success Award (2008) to name a few.  

Katie Ward: Katie is a Dayton native, growing up in Centerville and attending Alter High School. Upon graduation from Miami University in 2002,she went to work for P&R Communications. P&R was started in 1961 by her grandfather Paul Reeves and in the 1980’s her dad, Steve Reeves, and uncle, David Reeves, bought the business from my grandparents. I have worked in various positions at P&R – as a manager out of college (mistake!), then into a sales role, over to service and then in 2016 I became CEO when my dad retired. Today I own P&R with my brother, Daniel Reeves. We are the 3rd generation and P&R is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. 

P&R Communications is a Motorola Elite Service Partner, maintaining,restoring and trouble-shooting the essential Motorola two-way radios and other communications systems. As a full service provider, they maintain their own towers and VANDORNet service.

Nick Ripplinger: Nick is the Founder and President of Battle Sight Technologies. Incorporating his role as a former US Army Soldier and Operations NCOIC, Nick continues to have a strong passion for protecting the warfighter through innovating ideas and creating new technologies at Battle Sight. Nick is the best-selling author of Front Line Leadership – Applying Military Strategies to Everyday Business and Front-Line Leadership – Journal. As a Service Disable Veteran, Nick dedicates his personal time and resources to assist veterans in transition by leveraging their military skills in the business world.
