Breakfast Briefing - June 2022

Friday, June 3, 2022 (8:00 AM - 9:15 AM) (EDT)

Description

Conservation takes patience.

For more than 50 years, Five Rivers MetroParks has been making an effort to connect people in the Dayton, Ohio area to nature. They have developed a 10-year comprehensive master plan to guide the future of its parks, facilities and services and will to ensure our resources are aligned with current and future trends, community values, and the Montgomery County region’s changing demographics.

With over 16,000 acres of forests, grasslands, farmlands, and wetlands,— 90 percent of it in its natural state - conserving and protecting open space and natural areas is a priority for Five Rivers MetroParks. Natural areas in MetroParks are managed so that habitat for plants and wildlife takes precedence. Doing so preserves clean water and air, supports plant and wildlife biodiversity, and provides beautiful places where people can connect with nature.

Often, the pace of nature means it takes years or even decades to see real results. Yet some conservation projects have reached milestones and now are in a maintenance phase.
