Steven Solomon

Steven Solomon is the External Relations Coordinator for the Miami Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross and currently instructs two courses for the Ohio Emergency Management Agency. He was formerly a FEMA emergency response official, deploying for up to three months at a time to presidentially declared disaster areas. He is on the boards of the Miami Valley Council of Scouting America, the Dayton Sister City Committee, Miami Valley Crime Stoppers, Lincoln Society of Dayton, Dayton Gem and Mineral Society, Dayton Stamp Club, Dayton Children's Hospital's Center for Community Health, Dayton Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, Central Ohio Public Information Network, the Jewish Community Relations Council of Dayton, and Temple Israel. He is an ambassador for Destination Dayton at the Dayton International Airport, a master recycler with Montgomery County Environmental Services, and also volunteers at the Dayton Mediation Center, the Boonshoft Museum, for Welcome Dayton, and at Carriage Hill MetroPark for Five Rivers MetroParks. He is also a member of the Dayton Council on World Affairs, the Presidents Club of Dayton, Friendship Force Dayton and the Montgomery County Local Emergency Planning Committee. He is also a member of the Mayor of Dayton's People-Centered Governance Committee, which advises on housing policy, neighborhood stability, and returning vacant properties to productive use and delivers formal policy recommendations to the Dayton City Commission for review. He was formerly on the board of Preservation Dayton, serving as chair of its Marketing and Media Committee. He is also the former president of the Dayton Chapter of InfraGuard, a public-private partnership organization with the FBI focused on area of critical infrastructure. He is a former member of the board of the Dayton Chapter of the American Red Cross, serving as chair of its mission committee. He and his wife are members of the Dayton Art Institute's associate board. They live in a designated historic landmark in Dayton with their beagle.
