OSHA’s General Duty Clause is a catch all safety requirement that OSHA uses in the absence of a particular standard. As a result, it can be difficult for employers to know what is expected of them and when they might be cited under it. This is especially true today because OSHA is citing employers under the General Duty Clause for failing to furnish a place of employment free of the recognized Covid-19 hazard.
