  • Clint Chapman - Senior Manager, Strategic Partner Relations
    Clint Chapman has spent over 24 years in the robotics industry both as a customer and supplier. He started his career at Hitachi in San Francisco using robots to manufacture computer hard drive components. Clint joined Yaskawa / Motoman Robotics in 1998 supporting customers such as Toyota, Honda and many other supply chain networks. Helping improve their OEE (Overall Equipment Efficiency) through the adoption of state-of-the-art automation. Clint has spent the last 15 years in the Dayton area in various roles within Yaskawa Motoman robotics. After 10 years of service he has recently changed from Sr. Sales Manager for key Japanese OEM and automotive accounts to focus on Education and Workforce Development. Clint is a regular speaker on automation at the University of Dayton among other local schools, an avid RC pilot, married and father of three teenagers.
  • Roger Christian - Divisional Leader, New Business Development
    Roger Christian started his robotics career at Bendix Robotics in 1982 as a Mechanical Engineer and has spent the past 31 years working for Yaskawa America Inc., Motoman Robotics Div. https://www.motoman.com . His current role as Divisional Leader of New Business Development is to recommend focused strategic investment, product development and/or new market penetration to insure mid to long term growth by studying broad market needs and trends and then developing commercial strategies for the Company. Roger currently serves on the Technology Advisory Committee for the Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing (ARM) Institute http://arminstitute.org/, is an active member of the ROS Industrial Consortium https://rosindustrial.org/ and leads his division’s participation in Yaskawa’s venture capital fund.
Summary
Motoman Robotics, Yaskawa America, Inc. - This breakout session will review how new AI/3D vision technology is enabling the affordable use of industrial robots in logistics to help companies manage the rapid growth of on-line consumer shopping habits we’ve seen grow rapidly since the onset of COVID. Automating these rather mundane human tasks will help companies better manage labor shortages and rising wage pressures. Use case examples include: Robotic parcel induction & sortation Online order fulfilment Mixed-case de-palletizing Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR’s).

  • Damon Hacker - President & CEO
    Damon Hacker is one of the founders of Vestige Digital Investigations, a leading technology company specializing in CyberSecurity (proactive & reactive), Digital Forensics and Electronically Stored Information (ESI). A pioneer in these fields, he brings more than 30 years of experience in the arena, including a background in IT Security and IT Auditing. He helps to improve the techniques, processes and technology in cybersecurity and digital forensics within the legal process. He actively assists clients achieve compliance with many different cybersecurity frameworks. Helping to shape this important and fast-moving industry, he is responsible for leading Vestige and overseeing corporate strategic direction and growth, finance and administration, as well as the sales and marketing functions of the company.

  • Carlina Figueroa - Assistant Director of the Office of Work-based Learning
    Carlina Figueroa serves as the Assistant Director for the Office of Work-based Learning at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio. She is passionate about career and professional development and developing tomorrow’s workforce to meet the needs of the community. A native of Virginia, Carlina has called Dayton home for the last 5 years. Her background in Human Resources has given her the opportunity to work with organizations on developing new recruitment strategies, implementing internship and leadership programs, as well as identifying new ways to engage employees. Carlina received her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Christopher Newport University, her Master’s Degree in Human Resource Development from The George Washington University and also holds a Senior Professional in Human Resources certification. Carlina is very active and committed to serving the Dayton community. She is actively involved in a number of community organization and serves in numerous leadership roles including the Diversity & Inclusion Chair for the Miami Valley HR Association; Corporate Sponsorship Chair for the Junior League of Dayton; steering committee for Generation Dayton, a young professionals networking organization hosted by the Dayton Chamber of Commerce; and serves as Conference Chair for the Ohio Cooperative Education Association (OCEA) working to bring the next annual conference to the Dayton area in 2022. When not busy around town, you can find Carlina spending her spare time with husband William and their two Labrador Retrievers, Angus and Abby. They are expecting their first child in December.
  • Chad Bridgman - Director of Work-based Learning
    Newly appointed as Sinclair’s Director, Office of Work Based Learning Formerly, Apprenticeship & Internship Coordinator for Sinclair’s Science, Mathematics & Engineering Division As Apprenticeship & Internship Coordinator, Chad’s major responsibilities included managing and developing corporate relationships to increase internship and apprenticeship opportunities, and providing corporate and student customer service. Chad held two workforce development positions at Sinclair, where he developed the expertise needed to bridge gaps between education and workforce needs. He served as an Academic/Career Coach on a U. S. Department of Labor Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training grant, focused on providing employment preparation and placement services for unemployed and underemployed individuals. Through a Workforce Investment Act Opportunity program, he served as a Displaced Worker Counselor, providing dislocated and underrepresented individuals with the career and academic training needed to enter the workforce. Chad holds a Master’s degree in Management from Indiana Wesleyan University and a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Management from the University of Dayton.
  • Greg Wasmund - Director of Workforce Development and Strategic Initiatives
    Greg Wasmund serves as Sinclair’s Director of Workforce Development and Strategic Initiatives. Among other initiatives, Mr. Wasmund is directing a Sinclair/Goldman Sachs Foundation initiative, called 10,000 Small Businesses, that is providing training to small companies in the Dayton region to help them create jobs and economic growth. Prior to coming to Sinclair, he spent over 25 years leading and managing cross-functional business development and support teams to develop strong client relationships, generate rapid revenue and profit growth, and achieve company objectives primarily with technology solution and service providers in the automotive retail business sector. He holds a Master of Arts degree in Business. Thank you, both!

The panelists will offer their findings regarding solutions to issues with recruiting, retaining, and growing your company’s workforce.

  • Andrew Bremer - Managing Director, Local Affairs, DriveOhio
    Andrew Bremer currently serves as the Managing Director of Local Affairs for DriveOhio, interfacing with Ohio’s communities and ensuring the coordinated implementation of DriveOhio’s automated and connected vehicle standards. Specifically, Andrew serves as the program manager for the US33 Smart Mobility Corridor, coordinating public sector response to private sector development and testing needs. He also serves as project manager for the I-70 Truck Automation Corridor; a $8.8 million project to facilitate truck automation technology adoption. He also represents DriveOhio, on behalf of ODOT, to a regional collaborative for “smart transportation” known as the Smart Belt Coalition; consisting of the states of Michigan, Ohio and Indiana. Andrew formerly served at the Ohio Department of Transportation as the Deputy Director of Strategic Initiatives and Programs overseeing ODOT’s initial project development of automated and connected technologies and infrastructure. Andrew earned undergraduate degrees in History and International Studies and a master’s degree in City and Regional Planning from the Ohio State University. He resides in central Ohio with his wife and two children. He hopes that automated technology will allow him to one day pull into the driveway without destroying his children’s favorite outdoor toys.
  • Pam Fisher - Director, Economic Development, INDOT
    Pamela Fisher is an economic development and transportation executive focused on engaging with stakeholders to prepare Indiana for investment in advanced mobility technology. Since joining INDOT as the Director of Economic Development & Special Initiatives in 2015, she has advanced opportunities for the agency to collaborate with industry, universities and policymakers on research, policy, and infrastructure development. She is leading INDOT’s efforts as a member of the I70 Truck Automation Corridor project team with Drive Ohio, ODOT, & FHWA and is advancing INDOT’s electric vehicle infrastructure research strategy. She is a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD), received her MBA from Anderson University and is a graduate of the AASHTO National Transportation Advanced Leadership Institute.
  • Rich Granger - Managing Director, Workforce and Economic Development, DriveOhio
    Rich Granger is Managing Director of Workforce and Economic Development at DriveOhio, the state’s center for smart mobility — focused on automated, connected, and electric vehicles and infrastructure, on the ground and in the air. In this role, Rich manages workforce development programs from Pre-K to PhD to prepare Ohio's workforce for smart mobility jobs of the future. He also manages economic development activities to accelerate statewide investments in the fast-growing sectors of automated vehicles (DriveOhio) and advanced air mobility (FlyOhio). Rich has spent his career at the intersection of technology, innovation, and education. He grew up in Northeast Ohio and lives in the Columbus area with his wife and their young daughter, who wants to own a self-driving car and design a delivery drone when she grows up.
