The basis of this is good communication.About the Speaker:Tommie Jo Brode earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Mathematics from Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio. She earned her Juris Doctorate from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. Licensed to practice law in Ohio, Tommie Jo has served employers throughout the eastern United States. Her professional experience includes practicing employment law, multi-state toxic tort litigation, managing workers’ compensation programs, risk management, diversity and inclusion, elected office, collective bargaining, EEOC, ADA, FMLA, and occupational health and disability. Past roles include serving as in-house counsel for a global manufacturer overseeing their programs and policies and as the Director of Risk for the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission.Tommie Jo is passionate about service, having volunteered with numerous community organizations including the Boys and Girls Club, Habitat for Humanity, Girl Scouts, the Dr. Piper Center, and Parkside Church. Governor Mike DeWine appointed her to the Self Insured Employer Evaluation Board, where she served from 2019 to 2022. Tommie Jo previously served on the Boards of the Ohio Self Insured Association and the County Commissioner Association of Ohio. Tommie Jo speaks to regional and national audiences about effective communication, believing that most costly litigation and difficult situations can be avoided by improving workplace communication. She founded Venice Solutions Group, LLC in 2021 to formalize her commitment to good workplace communication, best employment practices, and the implementation of common-sense solutions. Tommie Jo maximizes her reach by splitting her time between Stow, Ohio and Venice, Florida.
