2026 CLASS LEADERSHIP DAYTON APPLICATION

The application deadline is March 21, 2025.

Leadership Dayton is a ten-month long educational program for business leaders already acting as servant leaders in our community. The program begins with a two-day retreat to turn a group of individuals into a cohesive network of empowered leaders. Each month one day is dedicated to a specific issue or challenge the greater Dayton area faces. The program ends with a one-day retreat and Commencement Ceremony.

Each program day is a unique experience that cannot be recreated. Because of this, Leadership Dayton has strict attendance requirements. The participant is required to attend, in their entirety, the opening and closing retreats and program days. In addition, the program participant will be required to participate in their class project, which may necessitate additional hours outside of the Leadership Dayton Program time. Participants are also required to attend the Board Match Expo that is held in March each year. Participating in the board matching process is highly encouraged (one-year term). If the program participant fails to meet these obligations, he or she will be asked to withdraw from the program and the tuition is non-refundable.

Required Time Commitment
Participation in Leadership Dayton is a significant commitment of time and energy, including attendance at all retreats (mandatory) and programs. In addition, your class must complete a community project during which you will be required to participate on your own time. Click here to download the letter of commitment.

If you or your sponsoring business / organization are not willing to make the commitment for your participation in this year's class, please exit the application now.

The goal of the tuition assistance is to remove financial barriers so that Leadership Dayton is able to welcome a diverse class of leaders with a wide range of background experiences to foster connections and strengthen the social fabric of our region.

Candidates who meet the following criteria will be considered for scholarships:

  • Endorsed by their leadership as the sole candidate from their organization for participation,
  • Self-pay or financially supported by an organization with revenues under $1 million annually, and
  • Complete the personal statement on the application.

Please note: All scholarship recipients will be encouraged to update membership in the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce. Recipients must have an active membership with the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce in order to receive tuition assistance.

Limited scholarship funds are available on a competitive basis for applicants with demonstrated need to help remove financial barriers. The average assistance amount is likely to range from $1,000-$2,000, however funds are not guaranteed each year. The Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce reserves the right to approve or reject scholarship applications aligned with the priorities to recruit a strong and diverse class. We believe this is one way to create an inclusive and vibrant leadership landscape for the region.

Information disclosed on the tuition assistance portion of the application is for internal selection matters only and will not be divulged to the public.

Would like to apply for tuition assistance?

Only answer if you selected "yes" on the last question; otherwise, skip ahead to the next question. If you answered "yes," this response is required for consideration.

The purpose of the scholarship is to help remove a financial barrier for a local leader who may not otherwise be able to participate. Please provide information to highlight that you meet the criteria for consideration, and share your request for financial support including:

  1. Details of your financial need (e.g.: entrepreneur self-pay, small business or nonprofit with revenues of  $X, etc.),
  2. If your participation in the program is dependent on your scholarship approval.

A key benefit of the Leadership Dayton program is the opportunity for special engagements that fall outside of class time. These include a ride-along with a first responder, a class-led project in service to the community, participation in a nonprofit expo (mid-March), and an invitation for placement on a non-profit board for one year following graduation.

Are you prepared to participate in these experiences although they may fall outside the timeline/parameters of the coursework?
